What digest does your sample text produce?

Spaces and line breaks count. Empty text is valid. Use sample text, never a key or recovery backup.

Ready. Calculate a digest to compare inputs.

No digest calculated yet.
A deterministic hash maps bytes to a digestThe same input bytes yield the same SHA-256 digest. Changing the input usually changes the digest throughout. This is hashing, not reversible encryption.Exact input bytesSHA-256 calculationFixed-length digest
This tool performs a single SHA-256 calculation, not Bitcoin’s double header hash.

How can you compare a known result?

For the exact lowercase text “abc”, with no quotes or extra line break, the SHA-256 digest is:

ba7816bf8f01cfea414140de5dae2223b00361a396177a9cb410ff61f20015ad

Hash that sample, then add a trailing space and calculate again. Compare the results. The digest is shown as 64 hexadecimal characters representing 256 bits; its length stays fixed even when the input length changes.

What stays local, and what does this omit?

The calculator does not transmit or save your input, and it works without a connection once the page has loaded. Site analytics may still run while you are online. The learning form is a separate provider service; neither integration receives the calculator text from this code.

This is not encryption, a password-storage tool or a mining simulator. It does not build or serialize a block header. The calculator needs a browser with the secure-context cryptography interface, normally available on the production HTTPS site. If it is unavailable, the page explains the limitation instead of showing a fake result.

In the Bitcoin family

The Bitcoin Ecosystem project describes BitcoinQu1 (BTC1q) as “The Quantum-Secure Ledger”. Its stated purpose is to future-proof Bitcoin’s value proposition against the threat of quantum computing, with supply wording “21 Million”.

Which sources define the calculation?

Sources: Secure Hash Standard, SHA-256 definition; Block header reference.

Known-answer sample: SHA-256 example calculation. Browser operation: Web cryptography digest specification.
